Fertilizer is an essential input in agriculture and is often overused due to subsidies and the risk of a bad crop. The excess fertilizer leeches into groundwater and contaminates water supplies and is a loss of economy to the farmer. Our product combines the Internet of Things (IoT) with a Lab-on-a-Chip sensor for soil, water, and plant matter.
The product measures Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium, the key elements in fertilizer and uploads this data to a web application where we can provide a map-based overview of the farm's fertility.
Our product helps to generate data that was previously difficult to reliably measure in the field. This allows farmers to use fertilizer responsibly and prevent water pollution. Besides helping the farmers make savings on fertilizer and cost, it helps the municipalities by reducing the risk of water contamination.
